Letter From the Heart – April 2009

November 30, 2010

Spring is in the air !!  Just not on the ground.

Just a reminder that our Annual Client Appreciation Party is coming up soon. It will be on May 7th from 5-8 pm  and you all are welcome. The 7th is a Thursday night so we hope not being a weekend will make it easier for you to attend.

As the ash slowly falls this evening I am reminded that we will see this problem twice. The ash is here dirty on the clean white snow and while not appealing to the eye it really doesn’t pose much of a problem. However, when the snow melts, if we don’t see significant rain, the ash will still be there on the road. Good for the lawn and flowers…not so good perhaps for your car. Let’s hope for April showers.

And of course it’s cleaning time again. The party, as usual, kind of forces us to “get it together” and spruce things up. I read the list to Dave today and he…fell asleep. Trust me; all will be ready when you arrive.

On a business note, some of you may have seen that the Anchorage Daily News reported some good news in this season of “bailouts” (though that may not be the appropriate word). Most major banks and credit unions in Alaska seem to be in good health. To quote “many of the state’s banks and credit unions grew in local profits, revenue, loan activity or deposits last year.” It continued “…but because most banks in Alaska avoided risky loans, and because economists aren’t predicting severe job losses in Alaska this year, Anchorage financial executives don’t expect the sort of meltdown and loss of shareholder confidence that has pummeled their colleagues in the Lower 48.”

Although we are not immune from the troubles so widely reported in the national news media, this information is reassuring coming from a source that has tended to be a bit gloomy when it comes to the real estate market here in Anchorage.

Moral: When some say   “the sky is falling, the sky is falling!!

… it may just be a confused “little” chicken talking.
