Staging for the Internet

February 7, 2011

Nowadays, with almost 90 percent of home buyers are doing their house hunting online, so it’s just as important to stage your home for the internet, as it is for the real life walk-through.

Plan your photos by telling a story that targets the people who will be buying your home. If you are selling to young professionals, set up the extra bedroom as a home office. For new families, turn that room into a nursery with big, stuffed animals and a rocking chair. Retirees like comfort. Make the master bedroom and bath look like a high-end resort with luxurious linens, orchids and candles.

On photo shoot day, open the windows to maximize sunlight. A good architectural photographer will know how to use angles, light and object placement to highlight your home’s best features.

Statistics show that staged homes sell about 17 percent faster and get a better price than unstaged homes. Staging for the web could mean the difference between “for sale” and “sold”.
