Time to hit the trails!

Summer is officially here!  It’s time to hit the trails, and enjoy the beautiful Alaskan summer weather while it lasts!  I’ve put together three trails to definitely hike this summer.

Tony Knowles Coastal Trail

Eleven-mile trail that stretches along the city’s scenic coastline from downtown, past Westchester Lagoon, to Kincaid Park. Take in views of Sleeping Lady and Cook Inlet to the west, and the Chugach Range to the east. Bicycles rentals available from downtown vendors.

Flattop Mountain

Anchorage’s most-popular day-hike, this 3,500-foot mountain with its characteristic plateau summit holds excitement for both the beginner and expert hiker. Although just 3 miles round-trip, the elevation gain is 1300 ft. Good views of Alaska Range, Cook Inlet, Turnagain Arm, and Anchorage. Follow signs for Chugach State Park from Upper Huffman Road to Glen Alps Road.

Thunderbird Falls Trail

Mile 25 Glenn Highway, just north of Eagle River, an easy, 1-mile hike through rolling terrain and birch forest to the viewing platform of the 200-foot-high Thunderbird Falls. Mile 25 Glenn Highway.

I’ve done the the coastal trail and Flat top, they are both awesome. I want to do Thunderbird (of course I do the other two again too).
