What Makes a Good Deal?

November 4, 2011

Homebuyers are faced with a cornucopia of homes for sale these days. When you buy a home, you should look for property with the best long-term investment value, and location is the biggest factor in determining the strength of value.

Stunning views are always highly valuable relative to location, but a beautiful neighborhood is also extremely important. If the home is situated in a suburban area, check out the rest of the homes on the street. Are they well maintained? The quality of the homes next door will significantly affect the resale value of your home.

Convenient access to jobs, shopping and good schools is also important. How do the local schools compare with national standards? Homes in safe neighborhoods near the best schools command the best prices.

The home’s price is usually the first thing homebuyers think of when looking for a good deal, but a truly “great deal” should have several more important elements beyond the asking price.
