English: A bowl filled with sugar

With the new year upon us, one of the main “resolutions” is to get in shape. That may mean running, going to the gym (buying a membership and perhaps even going), or creating a home gym out of milk jugs. Whatever the form, you’ve just had it with being “out of it” as far as your shape is concerned.

While all these actions are admirable, there’s one thing you can do for your body that doesn’t involve one sit up, curl, or mile. Go to your pantry and throw out the white processed sugar and flour. Toss all the candy and sweet rolls out the window. Use that Coke and Pepsi  toclean your tub (seriously, it will). There. You should feel better already. Now you won’t feel better right away as withdrawals are tough, but beating an “addiction” is always tough.  Addiction? You say. Yes, addiction. Sugar is in almost everything processed and it is profitable to keep you fat (not for you unfortunately). In  fact 3% of cigarettes are sugar. Talk about a double whammy!

There is a bill for consuming all this sugar, and it’s paid with your health. Take that can of Pepsi. Hidden in that brown liquid are numerous teaspoons of sugar. In some cases 10-12 teaspoons, since one teaspoon is 4 grams of sugar and there are up to 44 grams of sugar in each 16 oz. can!!!

Then there’s all the fat we consume. Do you have some left over chips from the holidays lying around?

Great. Put some of the chips in a blender for about 5 seconds. You may never eat another
“addicting” potato chip again.

No one is says to cut all sugar and fat out of the diet. Just begin to consume it in moderation. Do a little reading as to what you may be putting in your body. If you take these few steps, the “work” at the gym will go so much further in giving you the body you may want (and those jeans with now fit again).

Just a thought as we are approaching a new year. Dave is working on this concept and is trying to get our son to give up those Pepsis for another refreshing beverage, but without the deadly consequences of all that sugar.

So, here’s to your health!
